At the age of 17, young Raimondo left Smyrna, his hometown in Western Turkey and one of the most important cities in the Mediterranean. The year was 1918 and like many other immigrants, he left his hometown searching for better opportunities in the New World, leaving behind a shredded Europe in the aftermath of the First World War. 6y5c42
He set off to Brazil where, overcoming challenges, he quickly became involved with the coffee trade in the Paraíba Valley. His commitment and ion for coffee, which was the largest Brazilian export product at the time, led him to become a great specialist in the coffee sector after less than 15 years in the country.
In 1933, Raimondo was hired by Fincoffee Company, where over the years he gained extensive experience in the green coffee international export sector.
In the following years, Raimondo ed on to his son Aron not only his knowledge but also his ion for coffee. Keeping up with his father’s entrepreneurial spirit, in 1969 Aron acquires Comexim, a coffee trade company founded in 1960 and turns it into a thriving family business. Currently the company is managed by the third and fourth generations of the family, who are taking forward Raimondo’s legacy and making Comexim one of the major Brazilian exporters.
